2022 Programming

Re-emergence

In response to our shifting pandemic realities, our mission is alive with dialogue and practices around artificial life with our most responsive programming yet! We are excited to launch this year’s seven key experiences and offerings for Feminist AI.

These offerings honor our previous work while also providing access to our programming in the social technology tool and learning platform poieto. They will embody our volunteer, mentorship, and internship practices, which we have crafted based on our ethos and the reality of our budget. Our programming will fall into these main sections (please note, our titles are rough and we expect them to change as the work emerges!)

Algorithms of the Everyday

In this programming, you will see projects that explore how algorithms influence our everyday experience in realms like wellness, finance and relationships.

Sustainable Funding & Futures

In this programming, we’ll hold space to discuss how to exist as a community space with unheard voices while in alignment and collaboration with other organizations and funding sources. We will co-create how we can collectively move beyond volunteerism to value each other fairly to thrive in our current society.

Social Imaginaries

In this programming, we’ll move beyond the gendering and humanization of technology as we continue to co-craft our social imaginaries.

In this programming, we’ll explore emerging technologies through crafting arts, design and social technology projects.

Algorithms in the Studio

In this programming, we’ll explore how the ways we think about bodies are ever-changing based on our social landscapes.

Autonomous Bodies

Justice Technologies

We will explore topics around unwanted bias in technologies, drawing on references as varied as our own experiences in our workplaces to venture capital funding, health, surveillance, and issues of access.

Adaptive Environments

In this programming, we’ll explore themes around environmental displacement, mutations and species rights. As we engage in more design across realities, how can we address and explore the adaptations in our living world?
