Jade Newton

Jade Newton

Jade joined Feminist AI™ in 2020 as the moderator for the Algorithms of Oppression book club. Since that time, she has served as core member of Feminist.AI and currently sits on the board of directors. Jade graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in French. She also holds a Masters in Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University. 

In addition to her role within Feminist AI™, Jade holds board leadership positions with Girls on the Run San Diego and the Black Alumni Council of the University of Tennessee.

 Jade is currently working with Feminist.AI and poieto to continue her research on code switching in voice design.

 

Alyssa Diaz

Alysssa Diaz has been a Board member with Feminist AI™ since board inception. Professionally, she has worked in advertising, healthcare, and now technology, currently working as an operations manager for Google. Alyssa has always gravitated towards work supporting social causes and nonprofit organizations. Her efforts in this area include volunteer work and service as a marketing correspondent for Helps Medical Mission Trip as well as work with Marians, a service organization providing support to women and children in domestic violence shelters. At Feminist aI™ Alyssa strives to help the organization maintain focus on the needs of the everyday person within efforts to design and craft Artificial Intelligence technologies.

 

Christine meinders

Christine Meinders is a social design technologist and researcher. Her research focuses on emerging technologies as well as theoretical and speculative approaches to the design of AI. She uses critical prototyping to develop collaborative, inclusive, and community-centered AI tools and examines social bias as a result of human intervention in the design of AI. Meinders is the founder of Feminist.AI (part of the non-profit Mutable Studio) and social technology tool poieto (patent pending). She teaches AI. Culture.& Creativity at the California Institute of the Arts and the California College of the Arts. Her practice explores ideas around knowing, algorithmic accountability, and how locations, popular culture, and technical and non-technical experts define the artificial intelligence / artificial life spectrum, with a focus on knowing. Her practice incorporates computational arts, critical theory, and crafting tools to design emerging technology. Meinders holds an MFA in Media Design Practices from the ArtCenter College of Design and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
